Notwithstanding weeks of trending reports on the brutal abuse of Nigerians during a charter deportation operation in January., neither Nigerian nor the German governments had made any statement on the scandalous incidence. witness_testimony
While the medically certified to be unfit (Bright O.) still suffer the adverse effect/consequences of the violence, the whereabout of the totally unconscious victim who was conveyed in the ambulance is still unknown.
With many questions still left unanswered, Germanys deportation machinery is once again enforcing massive arrest and detention of so-called tolerated Nigerian migrants in preparation for the next deportation operation scheduled for February 19. The determination to enforce deportation on a day that symbolizes guilt and reflection on what seems like a state tolerated massacre of migrants in Hanau does re-affirms Germanys racist status quo and white supremacy values.
We commend the quick reaction of CSOnetMADE and NACTAL with a press statement alongside a symbolic marsh to the Human Right Commission to draw more attention on the matter. It will be very shameful if the Nigerian government will continue to turn a blind eye on accusations of gross human right violations on Nigerians as this will give more rooms for the continuous mistreatments and abuses for Nigerians both home and abroad. It should have been expected of the Nigerian government to have issues a statement on its commitment to investigate these accusations, at least confirming the actual situation and whereabout of the unconscious victim who was conveyed by the FAAN Ambulance to an unknown destination.
Considering the very traumatic testimony from Bright O. who was medically certified to be unfit to travel due to his serious medical condition and many other cases accompanied by our DERS Team over the years, we are charging the Nigerian government to request for a statement on the accusation from the deportation observer onboard through the German government.
We want to categorically call on Ambassador Tuggar to intervene in his capacity as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. We could recall his swift intervention to halt all deportations after a zoom exchange where we exposed the dubious intention to continue with massive deportation from Germany to Nigeria even when all countries borders were closed down for landing as part of the effort to contain the corona virus.
Once again, we demand;
The whereabout of the unconscious deported person conveyed on the FAAN Ambulance
Thorough and transparent investigation on all allegations of harsh treatments of Nigerians during deportation i.e over-dosing with medication etc
And while these investigations are ongoing, we call on the Nigerian government to halt all deportation to Nigeria to prevent further violence and human right abuses.
