Narrow escape for German deportation escorts as angered deportees besiege the Aircraft to demand the return of unconscious persons

Based on videos and victims testimonies from the recent deportation enforced from Munchen to Lagos last week, Germany is determined to intensify its deportation enforcement irrespective of available human rights standards for which its a signatory. deportees_protest

As the first charter deportation for 2025, Germany as the usual host continues to lead with 31 against 6 enforced deportation by Austria. Among this batch of deported persons were innocent children, mothers and sick persons who were randomly arrested at different locations i.e midnight from sleep, at workplace, by usual racist control on the street and otherwise at stage managed official appointments with German state officials.

On the arrival of the deportation machine at the cargo airport in Lagos, the deportees were provoked by the traumatic situation of 2 unconscious persons who had been brought to the immigration centre to be abandoned. They appealed for the immigration officer to reject the both of them and demand that they are taken back onboard to Germany.

While one of the unconscious persons laid lifeless on a stretcher inside the Airport ambulance, the second was convulsing helplessly with fellow deportees rallying around to resuscitate him. From reliable source here in Germany, the convulsing person had a long medical history and was medically certified as unfit to fly but the German deportation authority has as usual ignored this to enforced his deportation with massive violence.

At the immigration officers inability to deny entry for the unconscious persons, protest broke out as fellow deportees had mobilised themselves, carrying the unconscious and convulsing colleague as they marched in solidarity from the immigration centre back to the aircraft in the landing area to demand his return back to Germany.

As at the time the angered deportees got back onboard, the cabin crew were already quick with shutting the both doors to the pilot cabin and the passengers cabin to avert what may have seem like a mobbing confrontation especially with the the German security personnels who had facilitated the racist molestation and violence.

The situation drew the attention of the different Authorities including the Immigration Boss who appeared on the scene. The German representative from the embassy was seen to be driving away as the deportees approached the Aircraft. Both unconscious persons were later taken away by Airport Ambulance to the FAAN clinic from where they were further reffered fo LASUTH according to findings from the DERS Team on their visit to FAAN clinic that night.

From further search for the victims through Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and Federal Medical Centre (FMC), there was no information about any of such cases in these Hospitals. As at the time of our sending out this report, we are only aware of the whereabout of the convulsing young man while the whereabout of the completely unconscious deportee remains unknown.

We demand the whereabout of the unconscious young man who was taken away by the Ambulance

We demand a thorough Investigation on all allegations of harsh treatments on Nigerians during deportation as well as during their stay abroad

While these investigations are ongoing, we are calling on CSOs and agencies engaging in human rights, migration and humanitarian affairs to take a stand and compel government to stop all deportation to Nigeria as long as the investigation continues so as to prevent further human right abuse.
