Stuttgart Airport as deportation Hub
A batch of 27 suspected Nigerians were on wednessday deported from Germany to Nigeria. The deported persons arrived onboard a World2fly deportation machine that departed Stuttgart to arrive shortly before 2 PM at the Lagos cargo airport. The deportation operation could be described as solely enforced by Germany except for a severely ill and mentally unfit person who was flown in from Slovakia to join the other 26 deportation enforced from Germany. Baden Württemberg was actively involved both as the major deportation enforcer and as Host for the final deportation departure.
Considering Stuttgart`s role with hosting the December and February deportation operations to Nigeria, the plans to establish Stuttgart as a major deportation Hub is already taking full force. With this recent deportation operations, the location of AFRICOM and the role of Stuttgart, Baden Würrttemberg in the designing of racist, exploitative and and manipulative development politics, it is becoming quite obvious that Stuttgart and Baden Würrtemberg is further positioning itself as the centre for colonial continuity in the so-called global south.
From the recent deportation operation monitored by the DERS Team, the deported persons included a mother and three Kids, person with critical health conditions as well as persons who had lived and worked in Germany for many years.
What is quite worrisome is the deportation of a single mother with valid residence permit from Sindelfingen district in Stuttgart in December. The deportation enforcing police officers had deliberately ignored every clarification and proof about having to pick up their residence card at the local foreign office and enforced the deportation of the lady and her three kids. The lady has lived for about 9 years with her kids born in Germany.
Although the local foreign offices had confirmed that the deportation was a mistake and the family were only able to return back to Germany through the swift intervention of a volunteer, the need to question assumptions of Germany`s role model bureaucracy with well co-ordinated data base as this may not be just a single case.
There can be no tolerance for a system that compels us to accepting official negligence with impunity as the norm while we must be punished and criminalised for mere mistakes and ignorance that may have been instrumented by complicated German Bureaucracy and model of so-called integration.
Deportation 2025
Ten chartered deportation flights were hosted from Germany to Nigeria. While at least 2 of these deportation operation were solely enforced by Germany with coordination by the state of Bavaria, the rest were carried out as a joint EU deportation operation with Vienna, Luxemburg, Italy, Cyprus, Poland etc.
With the records from the DERS Team on ground, there were 171 persons (143 from Germany) deported onboard 4 charter deportation flights from Germany to Nigeria during the first half of 2025. With Lagos being the major destination with more than 80 percent of the deportation enforced, the deportation flights continued to Ghana and on one occasion to Cameroon. In the months of May and June, there was no charter deportation flights to Nigeria.
Considering the figures of deported persons from the DERS Team on ground, we have noticed a slight difference with the figures from the German Government through its response to parliamentary request with 169 deported persons during the period. Furthermore, the fact that the deportations were accompanied with 351 security personnels and a cost implication of about 1,522,330 euros from tax payers money should be a cause for alarm. These figures does not include cost for the random Police arrest and conveyance to the court, deportation custody or directly to the airport.
During the second half of 2025, the DERS Team reported six deportation arrivals from Germany. The Team recorded 135 deported persons from the 5 interventions except for the August arrival where their intervention was hindered due to very heavy rainfall.
