In a situation marked by massive violence and police brutality, an eight years old girl born in Germany was today made to experience her eight birthday onboard deportation machine to Lagos. This would mean a clear confirmation that the best interests of a child hold no priority German`s culture of deportation.
Onboard the privilege style deportation Machine were 27 deported person: two mothers with three children, and 22 men. They were received at about 2 PM by officers of the Nigerian immigration service at the cargo section of the Lagos airport yesterday.
Most shocking is that the child was escorted by officials from the Youth welfare Department to meet her mother onboard the deportation flight—her first contact with her mother in eight months. The eight-year-old had been in the custody of the Youth welfare Department since March, when her mother was sentenced to prison for not possessing a Nigerian passport that would facilitate her deportation from Germany – a common accusation —so-called “illegal entry and residence”—regularly used to criminalize thousands of rejected asylum seekers in Germany.
One has to wonder how the innocent little Girl would have been prepared for this moment, possibly with the Children version of the deportation guidebook from dubious Frontex would have been applied in this case. Absolutely no doubt that the youth welfare officers and others who were responsible for the little girl knew it was her birthday. So shameful and sad. Everyone would claim to have done their Job well.
The next deportation enforcement to Nigeria is scheduled for 17. December, Nigerians with a so-called tolerated identity (Duldung) should be aware and take contact with their Lawyers for advice.
