Germany has so far in this year 2025 hosted 167 deportation onboard 4 charter deportation flights to Nigeria. Germany leads as usual with 143 deportation enforced to include 9 Families and 20 Children under the ages of 9 years, followed by Austria with 15 and Cyprus with 9 deportation enforced through Germany.

Based on evidences gathered from Nigerian officials at the airport, German social workers, medical experts, Lawyers and other stakeholders engaging with migrants in Germany, the is a clear conviction that many of these deported persons to include children were having severe medical challenges and undergoing essential medical care as at the time they were arrested, deported with massive violence and left stranded at the cargo airport area in Lagos.

With the current political climate as it concerns asylum and migration, Germany is again more than ever determined to trample on its humanitarian obligation in furtherance of its desperation to enforce massive deportation in the name of the German population – “In namen des Volks”. Absolutely, the German deportation order is expected undermine recommendation from medical experts, imploring paid services of dubious and also racist medical personnel who are meant to accompany sick persons with indiscriminate use of coercing medications alongside excessive violence by the security personnel onboard deportation charter flights. deportation_experiment_with_bright

From Bright Obasuyi`s testimony, it was very clear that the experience during the short transit (hide-out as he described it) on the way to the airport was an “experiment” to ascertain the level of torture that could result in an epileptic reaction onboard. The dubious and cruel medical personnel was instructing the police officers to induce more pain on Bright while he closely observed his eyes and body reaction. Brights testimony was a near death experience without an eye witness to counter the lies of both the Police and the Medical personnel as in the case of Oury Jalloh and many other victims of the German racist violence. Bright is until this day still not able to recover from the physical and mental consequences of this deportation alongside his lingering health condition.

Grossly unprofessional is that the German medical personnel and the deportation co-ordination has always ignored the need to hand over report on all medical interventions onboard i.e the indiscriminate use of medications and situation of excessive violence to facilitate further medical attention as the case may be in Nigeria. The Nigerian government and the immigration personnel on ground must take a stand in the interest of the deported persons.

That both the Nigerian and German government could continue to turn a blind eye on years of trending reports on gross inhuman treatments and abuse of rights is alarming. Worse still is the absolute silence on the where about of the fully unconscious Nigerian deportee who had been conveyed by airport ambulance after the protest outbreak of deported persons on 22. January. Referring to the testimony of Bright after regaining some level of consciousness inside the second ambulance at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), he recovered to witness the Hospital management refusal to admit him without a down payment or otherwise a concrete clarification of who to bear the cost for his treatment. Bright was thereafter driven back and abandoned at the airport premises since there was no one to take up his bills for medical care. Imagine the case of the other fellow who was fully unconscious, the only alternative may have been the Morgue.

Once again, we demand from the German Government a clear statement on the actual situation with the unconscious deported persons onboard the deportation flight of 22. January 2025 and more also the situation after their arrival in Lagos.

Reacting on a This Day Newspaper report in April, the German Embassy denial of being unaware of the traumatizing situation of arriving deportees is absolute absurdity and embarrassing as the Embassy was always represented by 2 of its representatives who are always on ground to monitor the landing and departure of the deportation Aircraft. From the published video of the 22 January protest outbreak at the Airport, the German embassy officials was seen zooming-off the scene as the protesting and aggrieved deportees approached the aircraft carrying one of the unconscious persons.

Deportation is torture and violent crime against humanity. There can be no dignified way to deport people. It is shameful to imagine how innocent children are smuggled in the middle of the night and deported with their parents with excessive violence to a country they have only heard about or seen on TV.

With Germany defending its acts of racist deportation violence as in the interest of the German people “Im Namen des Volks”, there is the inevitable need to again and again mobilize the society to denounce this notion with total condemnation of all acts of institutionalized racism and violence by the German state.
